Udvar-Hazy Center

On Saturday, we visited the National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center.  It's the "companion facility" of the one on the National Mall (which we visited our first week here).  This one is out by Dulles Airport and was well worth the short drive out there.  Thanks for the tip, Adriane!

The Air France plane below is one of the Condorde jets that used to zip people across the Atlantic.

The Enola Gay is the bomber that dropped the first atomic weapon on Hiroshima.

Space Shuttle Enterprise

The Apollo 11 floation device is what the astronauts splashed back to Earth in after walking on the moon for the first time.

There was also a little plane that all four of my boys got to fly.

And the highlight of the day...an observation tower that you can go up in and watch planes taking off and landing at Dulles airport.

Wow! So glad you guys enjoyed this. We did NOT get to do the observation tower and apparently missed out big time.
