Rock Creek Park

As I've mentioned before, we're surrounded by a large national park called Rock Creek Park.  At the end of our street is one of many trails leading into the park so we sometimes walk (or scoot) down there in the evening. 

Just a short way down the trail...

...is a playground that the boys have named "The Bus Park" because of the School Bus play structure that's there.  Can you guess what song they like to sing when they're on the bus?

On this particular evening, things were pretty soggy from an earlier rain and the boys quickly found a way to get as messy as they possibly could.  (check out the mud on Riley's legs).  There was no point in trying to stop them.  They squealed with delight as they splish-splashed through the mud over and over again.

On a different day, we explored another area of the park by going on a Nature Walk.  We collected things along the way that we liked (leaves, sticks, rocks, etc) and looked for creatures and critters.  It was really, really fun and to my surprise, even Riley did not complain about walking.  They were happy to let their imaginations run wild. 

But seriously, Jonah, does every stick have to turn into a gun for shooting bad guys?  This one seemed particularly well suited for the job with its handle and all.
